NIOX® is a registered trademark by Aerocrine AB.

NO-free air (scrubbed inhalation air) eliminates contamination from high ambient NO levels, as stated in the ATS/ERS guidelines.

Minimized instrument dead space, <10 ml, resulting from placement of sampling port very close to the mouth, together with vacuum in sampling tube and NIOX Filter, give reliable and accurate results.

Deadspace is modifiable and can be regulated by exhalation time (fractions of a second), by exhalation volume (ml) or by a calculated volume (ml) based on patient's height. Deadspace is exhaled unrestricted, without flow regulation.

Unique NIOX Flow Control keeps exhalation at 50 ml/sec regardless of patient skill. Easy for even young patients to comply with. An elastic membrane valve mechanically adjusts flow rate. This ensures reproducible values with very small variatons.

NO Plateau. FENO value is calculated by creating an NO plateau for at least 3 seconds. Exhalation is set to 10 seconds, NO plateau set to between 70–100% of the exhalation (between 7 and 10 sec). The settings can be adjusted.

Chemiluminescence. NIOX Flex uses the high sensitivity and high specificity of a chemiluminescence gas analyzer, the most accurate method available for measuring NO molecules at very low concentrations.

Automatic Self Test between patient measurements validates the calibration and detects any zero-point drift in order to ensure that every FENO value is accurate and reproducible.

Default Test Settings ensure that collected measurements comply with ATS/ERS guidelines and that the exhalation quality is assured.

Automatic Maintenance Guide. A reminder indicates when to perform system maintenance and change calibration gas.

Infrequent Calibration. 14 days between calibrations.

USB ports to facilitate data management and print functions.

Comprehensive patient reports including measurement results with FENO, VNO, Pressure and Flow graphs.
